Your Impact

Your role as a Food Preparation Team Member is essential to the London Food Coalition’s mission:

  • Meal Preparation: By preserving, cooking, and baking with donated food, you'll help us create fresh meals that feed those in need across London.

  • Impact on the Community: The meals you help prepare are distributed to our 27 member organizations, including shelters, meal programs, and services supporting vulnerable populations.

  • Sustainability: Your work ensures that no food is wasted, contributing to our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and supporting food prosperity in the community.

What's in it for you

Volunteering with the London Food Coalition offers several personal and professional benefits:

  • Skill Development: Gain hands-on experience in food preparation, preservation, and kitchen work, all while enhancing your teamwork and time management skills.

  • Community Connection: Build relationships with fellow volunteers, community organizations, and local partners, while enjoying the satisfaction of preparing meals that will directly support those in need.

  • Meaningful Impact: Know that your work is directly reducing food waste and helping people across London access fresh, nutritious meals.

  • Flexible Commitment: Choose shifts that fit your schedule and make a difference in just a few hours a week.

  • Well-being Boost: Volunteering has been shown to improve mood, reduce stress, and increase a sense of purpose, all while giving back to the community

Please note: all volunteers with the London Food Coalition must have an annual Vulnerable Sector Police Check on file. New volunteers without a police check are asked to provide a receipt for payment to show that the process has been initiated (most VSCs are provided within 2 weeks) before they may begin volunteering. Please see https://www.londonpolice.ca/en/services/Vulnerable-Sector-Check.aspx for more information.

London Food Coalition

Fresh Food Abundance

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: At the London Food Coalition, we begin by grounding ourselves in this place—Deshkan Ziibiing, the land along the Antler River, known today as London. We live and work upon the ancestral territories of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapéewak, and Chonnonton Peoples, held up in the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Covenant, a treaty that reminds us that we share one bowl, one spoon, and the responsibility to care for all who rely on this place for nourishment. We are also bound by Treaty 6 (the London Township Treaty), which calls us into right relationship with the original peoples and with the land itself.
