The London Food Coalition is a grassroots network of community organizations collaborating to transform how food is shared, valued, and experienced in our city. We believe in food prosperity—not just meeting needs, but creating abundance, dignity, and joy.

We are not a food bank or a warehouse. We are connectors, catalysts, and a collective. We bring together organizations that know their communities best, supporting them by collecting and redistributing surplus food that is fresh, high-quality, and ready to be transformed into care. For us, food is not a transaction—it’s a way to strengthen community bonds, restore balance, and reimagine what’s possible.

Our Approach

  • Collecting Food Abundance: We gather surplus food from farms, suppliers, and retailers across London, ensuring that good food reaches those who can use it to nourish their communities.

  • Supporting Frontline Organizations: We redistribute this food to meal programs, shelters, community centres, Indigenous organizations, and more—partners who turn it into nourishment for thousands.

  • Fostering Relationships: Our work is grounded in relationships, creativity, and the belief that food should nourish people, communities, and the environment.

  • Promoting Sustainability: By redirecting surplus food, we contribute to a more sustainable and equitable food system, reducing environmental impact and supporting local communities.

Education & Outreach

We believe that education is key to fostering food prosperity. Our outreach programs engage businesses, food producers, and the community to:

  • Promote sustainable practices and the importance of sharing food abundance.

  • Empower businesses to donate surplus food and support local community programs.

  • Foster a community-wide understanding of the role we all play in creating a food system rooted in abundance and dignity.

Community Development

Beyond food redistribution, we are building a more resilient, united community. Our community development initiatives:

  • Bring together volunteers, donors, and local businesses to address food sharing in innovative ways.

  • Strengthen community bonds through collaborative efforts and shared goals.

  • Create a future where every Londoner has access to nourishing food and the opportunity to thrive.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: At the London Food Coalition, we begin by grounding ourselves in this place—Deshkan Ziibiing, the land along the Antler River, known today as London. We live and work upon the ancestral territories of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapéewak, and Chonnonton Peoples, held up in the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Covenant, a treaty that reminds us that we share one bowl, one spoon, and the responsibility to care for all who rely on this place for nourishment. We are also bound by Treaty 6 (the London Township Treaty), which calls us into right relationship with the original peoples and with the land itself.
