What Are London Food Coalition Members?

London Food Coalition (LFC) members are the heart of our collective work. They are community agencies, shelters, outreach programs, meal providers, and other grassroots organizations dedicated to strengthening their neighbourhoods through food. Together, we share a belief in food prosperity—a future where food is accessible, abundant, and shared with dignity.

LFC members play a vital role in collecting and redistributing surplus, high-quality food so it can be turned into nourishing meals, groceries, and community connection. They are more than recipients—they are partners, leaders, and co-creators in building a more just and sustainable local food system.

What is Membership?

Membership with the London Food Coalition gives organizations access to resources that support their food programs and expand their community impact.

Members receive:

  • Regular food access: Two weekly pick-up opportunities, with occasional surplus offerings based on availability.

  • A variety of fresh and usable food: Including produce, dairy, prepared items, and pantry staples—supporting the preparation of healthy, culturally relevant meals.

  • Collaboration and shared learning: Participation in bi-annual meetings, joint initiatives, and relationship-building across agencies.

  • Storytelling and visibility: Opportunities to be featured in LFC communications, sharing your organization’s impact and creativity with the wider community.

The Role of Members

LFC members are active participants in shaping a healthier, more connected London. In addition to receiving food, members contribute to the strength and sustainability of the coalition by:

  • Picking up food reliably: Members are expected to coordinate their own transportation for twice-weekly pickups and communicate any changes proactively.

  • Supporting LFC operations: Through volunteer recruitment, in-kind contributions (such as gas cards or vehicle access), and logistical collaboration.

  • Sharing outcomes: By providing photos, stories, and simple data that help the coalition tell its collective story and demonstrate impact.

  • Engaging in advocacy: By participating in meetings, offering insights, and identifying opportunities to sustain and grow the coalition’s work.

Together, LFC and its members turn food abundance into care, build bridges between agencies, and nourish people and communities across London.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: At the London Food Coalition, we begin by grounding ourselves in this place—Deshkan Ziibiing, the land along the Antler River, known today as London. We live and work upon the ancestral territories of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapéewak, and Chonnonton Peoples, held up in the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Covenant, a treaty that reminds us that we share one bowl, one spoon, and the responsibility to care for all who rely on this place for nourishment. We are also bound by Treaty 6 (the London Township Treaty), which calls us into right relationship with the original peoples and with the land itself.
