In 2025–26, the London Food Coalition continued to demonstrate what is possible when a community chooses collaboration over scarcity. Together, our members collected and shared 512,860 pounds of good food, representing more than 427,000 meal equivalents and more than $2 million in estimated retail value.

We welcomed new organizations into the Coalition, strengthened our volunteer and member networks, invested in the infrastructure needed to move more food, and continued building a model centred on food prosperity, dignity and connection.

​

This year also marks an important transition. After nearly a decade of community-led work, London Food Coalition members voted to integrate the Coalition’s work with Lionhearts, creating an opportunity for the relationships, systems and values built by LFC to continue within a larger food-sharing network.

Expanding the Coalition

The LFC network continued to grow in 2025–26, bringing together 28 member organizations working across London.

​

New members brought additional perspectives, programs and communities into the Coalition, while longstanding members continued to demonstrate the value of sharing resources rather than working in isolation.

​

Through member outreach we also developed a more complete record of the organizations that make up LFC — the programs they operate, the communities they serve, how they use food collected through the Coalition, and the relationships that have developed over time.

​

That work reminds us that the Coalition has always been about much more than moving food. It is a network of organizations learning from one another, sharing abundance and strengthening community together.

​

More Food. More Possibility.

In 2025, the Coalition collected and shared 512,860 pounds of food across its member network — the equivalent of approximately 427,383 meals.

​

Behind those numbers are thousands of individual moments: fresh produce becoming community meals, bread arriving at a shelter, ingredients reaching a neighbourhood program, or a member organization having one less thing to worry about while supporting the people who walk through its doors.

​

Our approach continues to centre food prosperity — ensuring that good food is collected, valued and shared in ways that create choice, dignity and joy while reducing unnecessary waste.

Volunteers Make the Work Possible

The volume of food moving through the Coalition would simply not be possible without volunteers.

​

Throughout the year, volunteers unloaded deliveries, sorted and organized food, prepared the Hub for member pickups, supported food preparation, reduced waste and stepped in wherever an extra set of hands was needed.

​

Volunteer recruitment also continued through community events, including the London Public Library Volunteer Fair, while volunteers represented LFC at activities such as New Moon Fridays and other community gatherings.

​

Their contribution is not peripheral to the Coalition’s work. Volunteers are part of the infrastructure that makes abundance possible.

​

Investing in What Comes Next

One of the most significant achievements of the year was the successful $185,100 campaign for a new refrigerated truck.

​

The new vehicle gives the food-sharing network greater capacity to collect larger donations, travel farther, handle food more safely and reliably, and support a growing number of member organizations.

​

It represents far more than a vehicle. It is an investment in the systems required to move abundance efficiently throughout the city — and an investment made possible by foundations, organizations, businesses and individual donors who believed in the Coalition’s work.

The Next Chapter

At the 2026 Annual General Meeting, members approved the integration of the London Food Coalition’s work with Lionhearts.

​

The decision reflects both the strength of what LFC has built and the opportunity to carry that work forward within an organization with broader warehousing, transportation and logistical capacity.

​

The transition is expected to take place in early November 2026, with preparations underway for the new space and operating model.

The organizational structure may be changing, but the central idea remains remarkably simple:

Collect abundance. Connect people. Nourish communities.

​

The London Food Coalition was built on the belief that good food has greater value when it is shared — and that the relationships created around that food can strengthen an entire community.

​

That is the legacy we carry forward.
