Position Overview:
The London Food Coalition (LFC) is seeking passionate, strategic, and community-oriented individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Member, you will play an essential role in shaping the future of our organization and helping us create food prosperity by rescuing and redistributing surplus food to member agencies across the city. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in London’s food system by guiding LFC’s mission and supporting collaborative efforts toward a healthier, sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:

Governance and Leadership:

Provide oversight of the Coalition’s activities, ensuring alignment with our mission, values, and strategic goals.

Contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of LFC’s strategic plan.

Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and ethical standards.

Advocacy and Community Engagement:

Act as an ambassador for the London Food Coalition, promoting the organization’s mission and impact in the community.

Foster partnerships and collaborations with local businesses, funders, community groups, and stakeholders.

Fundraising and Financial Stewardship:

Support fundraising initiatives, including identifying potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.

Contribute to financial oversight, ensuring the effective use of resources to maximize impact.

Volunteer and Staff Support:

Work collaboratively with fellow Board members, staff, and volunteers to support LFC’s operations and programs.

Participate in recruiting and mentoring new Board members, ensuring succession planning and organizational sustainability.

Qualifications and Experience:
-
Passionate about food prosperity, sustainability, and community well-being.

Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: governance, fundraising, finance, advocacy, marketing, or non-profit management.

Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

Previous experience serving on a non-profit board (an asset but not required).

Ability to commit to quarterly Board meetings, committee participation, and other LFC events as needed.
Term:
Board Members serve a term of two years, with the option for renewal.
Time Commitment:
Approximately 4-6 hours per month, including Board meetings, committee work, and participation in key events.
