Reimagine how food flows through a city. And who it feeds.

The London Food Coalition moves over 375,000 pounds of rescued food each year — not to a warehouse, but into the hands of 25+ partner agencies serving thousands of people every day. But behind every meal is something bigger: a vision for a more resilient, circular, and just local food system.

We’re looking for a systems thinker — someone with experience in food access, food justice, waste diversion, agriculture, or procurement — to join our Board of Directors and help us lead at the intersections of food, policy, equity, and community.

This isn’t a passive governance role. It’s a call to get involved, make decisions, and shape a healthier food future.

What You’ll Do

As a Board Director with a Food Systems lens, you will:

  • Identify systemic opportunities in how food is recovered, processed, and shared

  • Strengthen partnerships with producers, processors, and food-serving organizations

  • Contribute to food procurement and redistribution strategies

  • Provide thought leadership on how to reduce waste and build access

  • Help LFC evolve from a rescue network into a food justice force

You’ll also take part in the broader responsibilities of Board membership, including:

  • Strategic planning and impact evaluation

  • Financial oversight and organizational growth

  • Participation on committees and attendance at key events

  • Championing food prosperity and community-led change

Time Commitment

Expect to contribute about 3–6 hours/month, including:

  • Monthly Board meetings (10/year)

  • Committee or project-based work

  • Annual General Meeting

  • LFC events or partner programming

  • Orientation session

Eligibility & Application Details

All Board members are required to:

  • Sign a Confidentiality Agreement

  • Submit a Criminal Record Check

To apply, send us:

  • A short letter (1 page max) outlining your interest and what you’d bring to the Board

  • A brief bio (50–100 words). A résumé is welcome but not required

Deadline: Ongoing

We are committed to building a Board that reflects the communities we serve — across cultures, experiences, and identities. If you believe food should be local, shared, and accessible — this is your table.

Use your fundraising skills to help feed a city — and change the system behind the hunger.

Every week, the London Food Coalition transforms surplus into sustenance — collecting food that would have gone to waste and distributing it to 25+ partner agencies across the city. We do this with one truck, a small staff team, and a massive amount of heart.

But to keep this movement growing, we need resources — and the strategic minds to help us secure them.

We’re looking for a Director to join our Board and lead fundraising efforts that match the scale of our mission. If you understand the power of relationship-building, storytelling, and financial stewardship, we need your voice at the table.

What You’ll Do

As our lead in fundraising and resource development, you will:

  • Serve on or lead our fundraising sub-committee

  • Co-create strategies to grow our funding base (grants, donors, sponsorships)

  • Provide insight on donor stewardship, campaigns, and cultivation

  • Help ensure funding aligns with our mission, values, and capacity

  • Support grant applications and relationship-building with funders

You’ll also contribute to all core Board duties, including:

  • Strategy, planning, and organizational oversight

  • Participating in monthly Board and committee meetings

  • Supporting community events and LFC initiatives

  • Helping evaluate our impact and effectiveness
