The London Food Coalition is a collective of over 25 organizations working together to rescue fresh, surplus food and deliver it to Londoners in need. In 2024, our mission continues: diverting millions of pounds of food from waste and redistributing it to ensure everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food. Together, we’re building a food-secure, waste-free future for our community.

Who We Are

The London Food Coalition is a grassroots network of community organizations working together to transform how food is shared, valued, and experienced. We believe in food prosperity—not just meeting needs, but creating abundance, dignity, and joy.

We’re not a food bank or a warehouse. We’re a connector. A catalyst. A community of partners who believe that good food should never go to waste—and that everyone deserves access to nourishment that uplifts and sustains.

What We Do

We collect surplus, high-quality food from farms, suppliers, and retailers across London. Then we redistribute that food to frontline organizations—meal programs, shelters, community centres, Indigenous organizations, and more—who turn it into nourishment for thousands.

Through our daily work, we:

  • Reduce food waste and greenhouse gas emissions

  • Strengthen community relationships

  • Support local agencies with consistent, fresh food

  • Create a more sustainable and equitable food system

  •

At our heart, we’re about more than logistics—we’re about possibility. We help turn surplus into solutions, food into dignity, and hard times into moments of care, connection, and creativity.

The London Food Coalition helps by ensuring that good food is shared where it’s needed most—without barriers, without judgment, and without waste.

Each week, the coalition collects high-quality surplus food from farms, wholesalers, and local retailers. Instead of being discarded, this food is sorted, organized, and distributed to frontline organizations across London, including shelters, community centres, Indigenous agencies, school programs, and more.

The coalition doesn’t just move food—it supports the people and programs that turn food into nourishment. By taking on the logistics, coordination, and sourcing, the London Food Coalition allows its members to focus on what they do best: caring for their communities through meals, groceries, and connection.

In doing so, the coalition reduces pressure on emergency food services, cuts greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthens relationships between local agencies. Through this collective work, the London Food Coalition helps build a healthier, more connected, and more sustainable city—one delivery at a time.
